To be honest I win a lot of contests. I'm addicted. Online, phone-in, and even those little slips of paper you put into boxes at trade shows. I've won cash, shirts, cds, a mess load of movie tickets, passes to concerts and comedy clubs, I've even been on a game show. All that being said, the greatest thing I have ever one is something I can say I truly earned. Back in Grade 7, as my creative instincts started to emerge, I was nominated and WON the Literary Award Grade 7-8 for a short, suspenseful story I wrote. After receiving the trophy, I came back to my classroom where all of my classmates were already waiting for me, cheering me on from all sides as I walked by. I had trumped the tyranny that was the dominance of Grade Eights over the Grade Sevens. No more. The tides have turned. I had led the charge. A revolution has begun.

I won a years worth of groceries from Sobeys! This is so cool and excellent timing. I had knee surgery on Jan 23 (both knees) and will be off my feet for up to 6 weeks. This will come in handy being I am losing income. I won on Jan 24.

The greatest prize I have ever won was a two week tour for four people to Madagascar. We took the trip in October 2006. A limo picked us up at our door and we flew from Toronto to Paris and from Paris to Madagascar. We toured Madagascar from the Capital city of Antananarivo to the most southly point of the continent. Most of the tour was by bus, but we also flew to several of our stops. Seeing lemurs were the highlight of our trip as we had never seen them before. They only live in Madagascar. Eating different food was a challenge for me, having never eaten Zebu which is an animal similar to our cows I usually passed on this dish. This was a trip of a lifetime and one I will never ever have the privilege of experiencing again.

The Rolling Stones announced they would be heading a Canadian tour. As a big Stones fan, never witnessing them live, I won a rare pair of tickets from a local radio station. Hubby & I were to go but our babysitter backed out at the last minute, he suggested I went with someone else and he would stay home with our son. He reassured me next time the Stones came he would be there! A few years later the Stones announced another Canadian tour. Tickets were expensive and at that time, cash was a little short. I tried not to think about the fun I'd be missing. As I sat on the couch, flicking through channels, MuchMusic announced they were giving away tickets to the Stones in the following cities. I grabbed the phone and I called the 1-800 # and to my surprise I had won a pair of tickets to the show! 4 days later when we were standing FRONT ROW CENTRE!! my husband was beaming, "See I told you I would see them next time!" Best thing was the look on his face when Keith Richards was 3 ft away from us! PRICELESS!
